The Ionian Islands are a group of islands located in the Ionian Sea, off the west coast of Greece. They are traditionally called "Eptanisa" which means "the Seven Islands", but the group includes many smaller islands as well as the seven principal ones.The islands are well known for their beautiful sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, charming villages and stunning scenic countryside which is verdant and flourishing with greenery and nature.

Corfu island is one of the most interesting island. Corfu lies to the north of the Ionian Sea at the entrance of Adriatic and is an amalgam of natural beauties traditional features and archaeological sites. It is the most green of the Greek islands, has three million olive trees. As well as flower-strewn countryside and Adriatic-style villages, it has splendid coastal scenery and some excellent secluded beaches. Kephalonia Island: Fiscardo is the most northern village of Kephalonia island, located 50 kilometres away from the island’s capital. This beautiful and picturesque fishing village is very famous because it is one of the few villages that have not been destroyed by the disastrous earthquake of 1953. Nearby the village one can find many beautiful pebble beaches and coves offering calm and crystalline waters as well as ruins of a Palaeolithic settlement and of a Byzantine church, and many other picturesque and interesting sites. Because of its beauty, Fiscardo has become a popular destination and attracts thousands of visitors every year. Poros is a beautiful village with population of 1500 inhabitants. Its port is a significant link between Kephalonia and continental Greece. One gets to know the mores and norms of the place and has the chance to enjoy the traditional products, the tasty delicacies and the famous wine of Kefalonia at the various restaurants and picturesque taverns. Archaeological excavations are conducted at the "Drakena" cave of Poros by a party of the Palaeoanthropology-Speleology Committee. The area is renowned as a fishing place, while its caves are a shelter for the seal Monachus-Monachus and the turtle Caretta-Caretta. Argostoli is the capital of Kephalonia situated on a peninsular is a busy working port with ferries, private yachts and freight ships coming and going all year round. It has an attractive waterfront which features a colourful fruit market, for farmers to sell their produce. Argostoli has an attractive main square the Platia Vallianou, with plenty of bars and taverns in which to sit and watch the world go by. This area is a good place to visit in the evening if you want a bit of nightlife.


Lefkada or Lefkas island has many beauties and attracts thousands of visitors every year. Wonderful sandy or pebbles beaches are located on the island’s coastline and are offering their crystal-clear waters and the refreshing shadow of the many trees boarding them. Lekfas (or Lefkada) is one of the renowned 'Eptanissa' islands, the seven islands of the Ionian Sea. Lefkada took its name from the white colour (“lefko” in Greek) of the rocks in cape Lefkatas.


Meganissi island (the name in Greek means big island), is the biggest of the islands on the eastern side of Lefkada island and the only populated one. Meganissi is a spectacular tiny island very close to Lefkada. It is very green, with crystal clear waters, simple, ideal for romance, honeymooners or for those who wish to get away from it all. With a population of less than 2000 people, the Island of Meganisi offers complete relaxation in a typical Greek atmosphere.


Parga town has beautiful natural surroundings. It is a small, picturesque town built in a semi-circle round the bay and it was declared a tourist region in 1962. Franked by small inlets, coves, sandy beaches and islets, Parga is surrounded by wooded hills. Parga is an organized resort which holds great appeal for all ages and nationalities. The uniqueness of her construction was influenced from the architecture obtained during Venetian rule: Small houses, white in color adjacent to each other, Archondica (traditional mansions), narrow roads (Kandounia), flooded with flours. Best archaeological places to visit are the historic Venetian Castle of the town and the Ecclesiastical museum.


Paxi or Paxoi island is a cluster of islands. The main islands are Paxi and Antipaxi, and the cluster includes smaller ones like Mogonissi, Panagia, Kaltsionissi, etc. Paxi are 7 miles south of Corfu and 12 miles from Parga in Epirus. The islands are a heaven on earth: wonder ul geological formations (arches, caves, etc.) endless olive groves, innumerable monasteries (about 64), hot springs, windmills, spotless beaches with turquoise waters and a rich cultural heritage. According to Mythology, Poseidon created the island of Paxi cutting out with his trident a piece of land from Kerkyra (Corfu) in order to shelter his love for Amphitrite. The modern tourist facilities, the natural beauties and the kind and hospitable locals ensure perfect holidays on the islands.


Syvota Village Sivota is a scenic coastal village with rare natural beauty situated in Thesprotia, north of the Ionic Sea. It lies only 24 km south of Igoumenitsa, opposite Corfu. Zakynthos or Zante island: An island full of contrasts, Zakynthos consists of mainly woodland, with an abundance of pine tree covered mountains and fertile plains. It has a number of sea caves such as the famous Blue Caves on the north-west of the island. Laganas-Zante(Zakynthos): Laganas is known for having the best beach on the Island of Zakinthos. Only 5km South West of the airport and 8km from Zante Town, this lively resort appeals to young people looking for nightlife and partying and also families with older children. The gently sloping golden sand beach stretches out for over 5 miles and watersports are available. A unique feature is the fact that turtles lay their eggs on the east part of the long, luscious Laganas beach, so watersports are banned.
