Skiathos Island is only 46 sq km, but many people choose to return for their holidays year after year for the simple fact that it has amongst the best beaches of the Greek islands, a large variety of taverns, bars and places to stay and the fact that it is absolutely gorgeous. It is a lush, green island with over 60 beaches and depending on where you stay, you can have a quiet, relaxing holiday or a more active one doing excursions, sports and enjoying the nightlife. Skiathos is a popular summer resort for British and Scandinavian holidaymakers, but there are also many Italians, Germans, Dutch and Swiss. The Greeks also love Skiathos, and they like to see it as a bit of a cosmopolitan island.

Skopelos Island Many visitors think this is the prettiest island of the Sporades, or even Greece, since the buildings are old and white, with huge bougainvillea and flowerpots, it's full of churches and it is completely covered with forest. The landscape is dramatic, with high mountains and deep valleys. The island is composed of two rock massifs of unequal size. A narrow plain that runs from the bay of Skopelos, the capital, south to Cape Stafilos, separates the two parts. The smaller, eastern part is very steep and inaccessible.

Skyros Island An amazingly beautiful island, Skyros is the largest, but quietest, of the Sporades islands. It is the very idea of a traditional Greek island, and its hospitable people and pretty surroundings will enchant you. This is an excellent island for couples and families with young children, but also for people who in general just want a really relaxing holiday.
